The Shadow Girl

I have never given much thought to shadows, they are just there…but not quite. Something we can see but not touch. They breath, yet not.

I wake and think of you…each night I think of you, and on it goes.

My days are full, I do what I do, I have a good life, I am just missing part of it.

I think about your wacky sense of humor, and I miss it.

You are one of the bravest women I know, your sense of adventure is inspiring.  I find myself thinking of when I was young, I can’t even imagine myself at that age going to the places you’ve been.                                                                      SAM21e

Sometimes I put my face to the wind, close my eyes, breathing in the scent of the air and imagine you are doing the same.

I will never let go…not as long as I have breath in my body.

My wish for you is the gift of time; the understanding and wisdom that comes with it, the peace and love that floods your life.

This is my life, as the mother of an estranged daughter.

Daily Prompt: The Journey- To the Farm And Back

Tell us about a journey — whether a physical trip you took, or an emotional one.

Well here I am back from the dead…. so it seems. In early March I got news I had to travel home to help look after my mum, who had broken her ankle. My mind was whirring with a million things, from getting my car ready for the long journey, to wondering how my mum is going to make it through this challenging time.

The trip I took was physical and emotional, I enjoyed driving through  B.C and Alberta, and finally reached Saskatchewan.

It’s hard not to look like a geek when taking your own pic.

I stayed overnight in Regina with my sister and her husband. Plenty of activity in their backyard.

Snowmen just seem to love living here.

I was really happy to finally get to Yorkton to see my mom. She was still in the hospital at that point, but she was so happy to see me.

I stayed on the farm for about two weeks, driving in every other day to visit her. I would take my lunch in and we would have a “picnic” at bedside while she ate her hospital food. She insisted that it really did taste quite good, and actually, it didn’t look half bad. We would play cards each day, she always looked forward to doing that.

Back on the farm… I have not seen this much snow since I was a kid.

..and plenty of glorious, prairie sunshine.

My trip back was an interesting one. I stopped to say hi to the giant moose in Moose Jaw,Saskatchewan.

Some things just grow really big here.

I took a different route through Alberta and encountered some interesting sights along the way.

..and no shortage of beautiful mother nature.

My journey was a good one, I love driving down roads I’ve never been. Now that I’m home, it’s just one surprise after another….

Do The Right Thing: Bloggers Unite- Me and Mom

Today I must do the right thing and thank my mom for all she has done, 54 years ago today she was working very, very hard! 🙂 Thanks mom!

About four weeks ago she fell and cracked a bone in her ankle, she has been in the hospital ever since, quite the ordeal, seeing she is eighty three. She gets the cast off around the beginning of April, and can’t wait to go home. She has never been away from home for such an extended period of time, and I’m sure is finding it difficult to deal with.

I have four siblings, and live the farthest away, it is about a two day drive for me. My oldest brother lives with mum and cares for her, he is a gem. My youngest sister lives about two hours from where mum is in the hospital so can drive to see her on her days off. Last week when Barb was visiting mum she took this snap shot with her phone, the wonders of technology. I have one as well, so I took a pic of myself and little Molly so mum could see us.

She is being a real trooper, but the whole ordeal must be terribly stressful on her. All of us have been talking to her each day, which is helping I think, but she does miss her home environment very much.

When I was a kid one her favorite programs to watch was the Tom Jones variety show, She loved watching him, lol, I still remember the look on her face when he would do his sexy dancing. 🙂 And yes, she did love the music as well.

At the beginning of April I will be driving out to see her, and stay for a couple of weeks, it will be good to see her.

Thanks for being who you are mom, I love you!

Mothers And Babies

I always get a warm fuzzy feeling when I look at photos like this.

Just passing these along to do the same for you.

Those of us who have kids love them, and these mothers are no different.

Have a great evening.
